When I was living in Japan I was spoiled by the vast availability of cheap and mouth-wateringly delicious sushi! But now that I’m back living in Canada, sushi is expensive!
I then thought, why don’t I just make it myself? While I’m no professional and don’t trust myself to make the flawless pieces of “Nigiri” sushi I became accustomed to in Japan, I trust myself making (relatively) simple “Maki” or “roll” sushi.
This sushi ended up ok, I’d give it a 5 or 6 on a ten point scale. A couple things I noted to myself that I’d like to improve for next time:
- Let the seasoned rice cool for longer before beginning the sushi making process – I failed to do this and the rice got slightly soggy
- Use less rice – the rolls were a little big
